From Hustle to Harmony
Designing Visual Anchors for Your Own "Un Respiro"
We live in a world of constant noise. As entrepreneurs, creators, and humans trying to navigate modern life, the pressure to hustle is relentless. We are told to speed up, scale faster, and produce more.
But my journey—and the authoring of my books—have taught me the opposite truth: real growth happens in the quiet moments. Real transformation requires a sanctuary.
When I decided to create merchandise for the books, I knew I was initially going to design a few items that utilized the graphics from the children’s book covers, but I didn't want to only focus on this type of product and call it a day.
I also wanted to elaborate on the journey I’m on and create physical objects that act as "visual anchors"—beautiful items that, when you look at them on your desk or hold them in your hands, snap you out of the hustle and back into a state of mindfulness and manifesting.
I wanted to design tools to create a personal and beautiful sanctuary.
Embracing the "Slow Business" Trend in Design
We’ve been talking a lot lately in my circles about the "Slow Business" trend for 2026. This isn't about being lazy or lacking ambition. It's about rejecting frenetic busy-ness in favor of deep, intentional work. It’s about choosing quality over quantity, and sustainability over speed.
I applied this exact philosophy to design the Sanctuary Collection.
My initial design concepts were quiet. They were very soft, muted, serene, and subtle. They were beautiful, but they felt a little… safe and they didn’t quite feel authentic to me.
I realized that the "slow" concept doesn't mean being quiet and lacking color.. A sanctuary isn't just about silence; it's about a vibrant life force. The worlds of my books are steeped in the richness of my heritage—it's colorful, magical, and alive.
So, I pivoted. I decided to embrace the vibrant energy of Mexican folk art and Alebrije-inspired patterns. I wanted designs that didn't just sit in the background, but actively radiated energy.
The Sanctuary Collection: Tools for Becoming
The result is a collection designed to surround you with beauty during your moments of intentional work and manifestation.
1. The Catalyst: "La Pluma" Take Me Away on an Adventure
As writers and creators, our tools are sacred. "La Pluma" (The Pen) represents the power we have to write our own stories into existence.
For this tote, I wanted to capture the exact moment creativity takes flight. The ink flowing from the quill isn't just black ink on a page; it transforms into a swirling, colorful flock of Alebrije-style birds. The ink we put down on paper tells a story filled with color. This tote is meant to carry your notebooks, your dreams, and your creative energy out into the world and on many adventures.
2. The Ritual: Daily Sips of Sanctuary
The act of preparing coffee or tea is often the very first "slow" ritual of the day, or the much-needed pause in the afternoon. It’s a sensory experience—the warmth, the aroma—that grounds us.
I wanted to wrap that daily ritual in beauty. Whether you choose the enchanting botanical and butterfly scene from "The Art of Becoming" or the creative inspiration of "La Pluma," holding a warm mug adorned with this vibrant art is a reminder that even the smallest daily acts can be infused with magic and intention.
3. The Vessel: "The Art of Becoming" Journals
This is nearest to my heart. A journal is a sacred space—a chrysalis where raw thoughts transform into realized dreams, where ideas and concepts take shape and flourish.
One design features a Monarch butterfly inspired by the vibrant markings of. the Mexican alebrijes—the ultimate symbol of transformation and migration across borders—emerging from a seed that is simultaneously rooted and blooming. Surrounded by rich, dark botanicals, this cover is an invitation. It doesn't tell you what you are becoming; it provides the beautiful, safe space for you to figure it out yourself. The second design features the beautiful “La Pluma” quill transforming ink into a swirling, colorful flock of Alebrije-style birds.
Surround Yourself with Intention
If we want to manifest different results in our lives and businesses, we have to change our environment. We have to slow down enough to notice the beauty and interrupt the pattern of the hustle.
I hope these pieces serve as your beautiful interruptions.
