¡Viva la Fiesta! Making Papel Picado Flags (Defiance, OH)

A Celebration of Heritage & Creativity (Community Builder - Gratis | Registration Required)

Defiance Public Library

320 Fort St.

Defiance, OH 43512

Get ready to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a vibrant afternoon of storytelling and tradition! Join award-winning author and fashion industry expert Christina Treviño at The Defiance Public Library in Defiance, Ohio for a special ¡Viva la Fiesta! event.

We will begin with a lively reading of A Family Fiesta Para Mi Cumpleaños, a story that honors the joy of family, heritage, and the magic of a true Mexican-American celebration. Following the reading, Christina will lead a hands-on Creative Construction Workshop where children can become their own designers. Kids will learn the traditional art of crafting Papel Picado flags—the beautiful, hand-cut paper banners that are used to celebrate any great fiesta.
